Hey folks, I am going to drop this in here also. I have posted a non image version in the Forum as well.

how to use Ventrilo. Here are the basics to using Ventrilo (Vent) for our Sunday Office Hours.First you will have to visit the Vent website to download the program. I am not going to go through the install cycle on your platform, Vent has that in it’s documentation. http://www.ventrilo.com/download.phpConfiguration

I only have access to the Mac client at this time so I will amend this as soon as I can for the PC users in our group.

Proceed to the Guild Tab of Social in WoW. After clicking this you will notice a Guild Information Section. Click this to obtain the server address and port info.

Upon opening Vent you should see an interface similar to this one:
vent1

Click the arrow next to the User Name field to setup your user name which will open the following window. Click New and type in a User Name.

vent2

The Phonetic field is optional and allows the server to properly announce your arrival and disembark on the server. Click OK in the Setup User window.

Next, click the arrow next to the Server field to setup the server and port addresses; the Connection Editor window will open.

vent4

Click New and type in a Server name. Click OK. In the main Connection Editor window enter the server address and port number from the Guild info tab into the field. Click OK.

We have found it most efficient to use the PTT (Push to Talk) bindings it minimizes the background noise on the channel for all, you are most welcome to use other settings but we will ask you to activate PTT if there is undue channel noise from your node.

Click the Setup Button on the main Vent window.

Check the Push-To-Talk Hotkey box. You will then need to consider your key or key combo that you wish to use. I personally prefer the tilda/grave button. Note anytime you have to enter this menu to adjust your settings you will not be able to talk across Vent until you cancel/OK out of this window.

Congratulations you have completed the minimum settings for Vent. Click the Connect button and say hi!

I hope this has helped and I will amend and add to this document as questions come up and time allows.
